Post by dolke »

Hi guys.

Im getting this strange message about some errors found during a data transfer of my laptop HDD.
This is the screenshot: http://prntscr.com/3t47hy

Can someone knows what this means?

Will this cause some performance issues?

Thanks

Data transfer errors usually caused by data/power cables and connections.
This is more frequent in desktop PCs, but can happen with notebooks also, depending on the model and internal structure of the notebooks, for example can be related to the connection of hard disk bay, ribbon cable and so.

In some situations other factors like insufficient power, improper cooling (of both the hard disk and/or the CPU or chipset) can be in the background.

Faulty RAM modules or even overclocking can also result in data transfer errors.

I'd recommend to check the above and verify if the error counter will increase or not. It will not automatically reset to zero (as the drive can't recognise that a faulty cable/connection fixed) but the most important is that it should not increase further. Then it is possible to clear in Hard Disk Sentinel to acknowledge the reported problems, remove the current message from the text description and be notified about any future issues only.

Yes, this can result lower performance and in worst case, even damage / corruption of files.

For more information, please check www.hdsentinel.com -> Support -> Knowledge base -> Hard Disk Cases -> Hard disk case: communication errors ( http://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_cas ... _error.php )

You may also use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option, as then it is possible to check and advise based on the actual situation.
