New drive... strange things in the log.

Post by variance »

Hi. I decided to take a chance on the "White Label" drives on amazon that are clearly relabeled WD4TB RE drives. (Yes I'm aware of the risk.. I'm just looking for confirmation on diagnostics)

I've noticed the following in HDD Sentinel upon plugging it in:

hdd.jpg (188.22 KiB) Viewed 3917 times
I received the drive today. June So this indicates that on March 11th and 12th.. the firmware was reset? or what?
I'm not sure what to make of these log entries.

I'm currently running a surface initialization test before I add it to my drivepool.

I'd recommend to update Hard Disk Sentinel to latest 4.50.5 Pro:

and clear the LOG of the hard disk under the list of entries.
As discussed on the forum some time ago ( viewtopic.php?f=32&t=8895 ), in some situations it is possible that the drive may report invalid entries in the LOG area. This may be related to the combination of the hard disk and some external enclosures/docking stations.

By the updated version, there should be such issues. I'd also recommend to use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option, as this would confirm the situation (you may even use this function later, if you see any changes in the LOG again, so comparing the different reports would help to verify what happens).
