Hyper-V (Core) server?

Post by ragious »

Hi,

I tried a few hdd /ssd health tools and I must say HDD sentinel felt good from the start and I like the user interface.

I have a question about the server version: can it be installed on Hyper-V Server 2012R2 core and then remotely administered? Or does it even run with user interface on the server itself?

Thank you,

Regards Ragious

PS: why can't I register for this forum using a hotmail.com address?

Thanks for your message and kind words ;)

Generally, the Enterprise Server runs on the system which collects the hard disk / SSD status information and it can be administered on that system only (it displays the user interface on that system).

As there are no big resource requirements, this can be even a simple workstation PC (or even a virtual system), no need to run on a high-end server.

If you prefer to run on a system where there is absolutely no user access, you may use remote desktop to connect and manage the displayed information.

Please send an e-mail to info@hdsentinel.com about the actual requirements and a special, fully functional (time-limited) demo version will be built - so you can verify the software, examine all functions, features and verify compatibility without any obligations.

Thank you for your response.

I was not sure if I asked the question correctly, most software does not install on a Hyper-V Core server because windows gui routines are not available here (only command line). But today I had the opportunity to just try and guess what: hdsentinel pro DOES indeed install on a Hyper-V 2012R2 core server. Fantastic! I use a RDP connecting to check but that is ok.
I will investigate the different licenses and come back to you soon.

thank you for your support,

Regards, Ragious

Thanks for your message and the confirmation, sounds great ;)
Can you please use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option? Would be nice to check - as this can be a rather interesting configuration.

I send you two reports:
1. The command line server Windows 2012Rw hyper-v server. When I pressed the send report, I got a crash (internet explorer is not probably supported on a core server) but it said it sent succesfully. Let me know if there is a way to generate the report only so I can send it to you using email.
2. The GUI version of Windows 2012R2.

BTW I purchased the family license and very happy with it.

Kind regards,
Ragious

Thanks for your report (I got it and checked) and sorry for the troubles with sending!
If there are problems with sending it, you may any time use Configuration -> Send test report -> Create test report and there it is possible to save it to text file and send it e-mail to info@hdsentinel.com

Thanks for your order, glad to hear Hard Disk Sentinel seems useful ;)
Just let me know if I can help in any ways.
