Highpoint Rocketraid 2522 SATA -- not all disk detected

I wanted this software to work badly. Would've bought it if it worked, but right now it has a bug.
It cannot detect all disks connected to my RocketRaid controller. It detects some, but misses significant chunks. I have 20 disk drives connected to Highpoint, 19 of them supports SMART, but hdsentinel only sees 6.
There seems to be no pattern to why it sees some but not the others: The ones it sees, some are port multiplied, some are not. (So esata port multipliers are not causing the problem.) The disks I use are all the same, WD10EACS as well as WD2003FYYS, and both types have disks that show up (as well as not show up), so disk type isn't the problem.
from RocketRAID console, I checked and all disks reported SMART fine.
HD Sentinal can detect all my OTHER drives's SMART status, like SCSI (off a promise SCSI controller), and IDE (off a IDE controller); but those are not my critical drives that need monitoring; hence the disappointment.
