Print Report

Hi,

every once in a while I get a drive from a friend to work on. Quite often, the drive is in terrible shape, which is usually hard to believe for the owner: "Hey, it was always working just fine!" or "I've been using this USB case without air flow or fan with dual 7200 drives for a long time [translation: anything above one week] and it never got too hot!"

You know the situation.

What I'd love to do is print a report from HD Sentinel. I can't use the text-report that HDS generates because it includes all the drives on the system (not just the one I'm targeting) and it is way too technical and "plain looking", besides it e.g. doesn't include temperature readings.

I'd like to have a one page report, ideally containing the following (top-to-bottom):

- drive hardware information: manufacturer, size
- drive condition: percentage and text description as given on the first tab in HDS "Overview"
- a table of the critical (only the critical, not the nominal) SMART values
- temperature data and graph: as in tab "Temperature", the bars (current/average/max. seen) on top and the graph below
- optional: If a surface test has been performed, the surface map with good/damaged/bad sections indicated (possibly on a seperate page)

I'm aware that at least some of that can be obtained by using the Web-Viewer, but it is a little complicated to use. An option "print drive report" would of course be very much simpler.

Do you think something like that could be realized?

REgards,
VGER

Yes, I understand the situation. So it would be nice to create a report only for the selected disk with the most important information.
This sounds interesting and it may be available in a later version of the software.

Tip: in the current version, you may try to use Configure -> Message Settings and uncheck some (or all) parts from the "Detailed report components" section before using Report -> Save TXT report or Save HTML report. This way the report would be much more compact and contain the most important functions - however it will still contain information about all disks. Anyway, it may help.

I know that this can be done manually using the tips above, but still wonder if there would be a chance that this will be posted automatically.

This is already available: see Report -> Save authentic disk report
There you can select hard disk(s) (and SSDs) to be included in the report.
