How do I view old drive information?

How, what, where and why - when using the software.

How do I view old drive information?

Post by IgorOSoft, UnLtd. »

HD Sentinel warned me of a failing server drive in time for a flawless rescue. 8-)
Now I would like to view the information on the drive I replaced, to claim warranty from the manufacturer. The files are still in the hds install folder. Is it possible to load them into the application, preferably read-only?

Thanks!
Igor

BTW: your forum software did not allow me to register with a an e-mail address containing a .info tld
Very last century  ;)

Currently it is not possible, but this function will be added into a later version.

I used the latest PHPBB, I never thought it may not support .info tld.
I'll check.

Good, I'll be looking forward to that.

A related/ follow-up question:
Removable drives leave their logged data on any host computer that has HDS installed. Which is a good thing.
But since removable drives are more prone to errors due to (rough) handling during travel, frequent spin-up/down etcetera, would it be possible to join log files into one 'master' log? The more data to calculate health the better, right? And you don't want to miss log entries or alerts just because they were stored on a different computer. I'm not quite sure how this would work, but when you store log data on the removable drive itself (or better, copy it), every instance of HDS would be able to see "the whole picture".

Thanks for the tip, yes I agree this is a great idea.
This information would not take too much space (some kbytes maximum) on the removable drive. And when the drive is connected to any PC with Hard Disk Sentinel installed, the software could display the complete log of the drive. It help in diagnosing issues regarding not only the hard disk but also with the particular system (for example to reveal problems with the USB subsystem).
This will be also included in a later version.
