Temperature stuck since reinstall

Hey guys,

I started using HD Sentinel on Windows 7. It worked fine all temperatures always showed properly and varied as I controlled fans in my case, or started a large copy.

I installed Windows 8. Same thing, no problems.

I don't like Windows 8, I reinstalled Windows 7.

Suddenly one harddisk temperature is stuck on 51C. The disk is nowhere near this temperature and it doesn't matter whether I open the case, set fans to 1800RPM or just turned on the pc after being off an entire day.

There are 8 drives total in this machine, all other drives show varying temperatures and respond to fan settings and disk activity. Most drives average at 40C.

Could this be a bug?

Since this issue interferes with my tray icon setting (set to show highest temp only), I figured I would configure an offset in SMART. However, when I set it to -10, the temperature jumps back to 51 after a few seconds. When I then reset the offset, it jumps to 61 and then drops back to 51 again.

Thanks.

Hi Aardvark,

I suspect the issue may be related to a driver where the appropriate drive is connected.
Some such drivers may provide inaccurate, cached / fixed value(s) or incorrect information when the hard disk status (including temperature) is accessed.

Can you please use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option? This way it is possible to check the actual hard disk controller where the drive is connected and what can cause that the temperature is always 51 C.

Do you have the latest Hard Disk Sentinel version (4.40)? New versions always have general improvements and special filters / solutions (for example detect by a different way) for such invalid data, so if you have an older version, it may be good idea to use the automatic update from the File menu, to get the most recent version (and the best would be to use the mentioned Report menu -> Send test report to developer option with that).

Thanks.

The problem is solved. I had accidently installed an older version and imported the config from the latest version.

After I uninstalled and cleaned up the roaming folder, I reinstalled and everything is showing properly now.

Me thanks too for the confirmation, glad to hear now things working ! :)
Excuse me for the troubles with the older version.
Anyway, if you experience same or similar in the future, please use Report -> Send test report to developer option any time - as then it is possible to check the status and advise.
