Hard Disk Monitoring

I have just bought your software and it is really very useful.

In fact, I don't know how I managed without it.

I have a couple of questions though:

- Is it possible to send a warning if a disk disappears from the network or from the local PC for that matter?

- Would it be possible to have a separate message that just sends the alert part of a message. By that I mean, if the email is being generated because of a low disc space warning, just to send that information rather than everything?

- Is it possible to completely ignore specific drives ie things like Disk: #7: Generic- SM/xD-Picture, : #6: Generic- Compact Flash. I have unticked them from the configuration of drives list but they still come out in the email

Here I'm sending the answers for your questions:

I'm afraid no, currently it is not possible in Hard Disk Sentinel standard / Pro versions.
Hard Disk Sentinel Enterprise version can issue alert when any drive is connected / disconnected - but this is not available in other editions.

Please check Configuration -> Message settings page.
There it is possible to specify if the report shuold be a complete, detailed report (and specify the detailed report components) or just a small (brief) text report containing the actual problem. This may be useful also if you prefer to use email -> SMS gateway and get notification to your mobile (if your mobile provider support this)

As they work as hard disks (as they appear in Windows Disk Management also), they are also listed in the reports.
However, from the main window, you can completely hide them: right click in the list of physical drives (upper left area) and de-select the device(s) you prefer to hide. This way card readers, pendrives and similar devices could be hidden.

It is a shame that the ability to notice that a disk has disappeared from the network (in my case it just means that my NAS box is offline) is only available in the Enterprise version but I understand why.

Regarding the truncated message. I can see how you do that but presumably that would be truncated for all reports not just the "daily complete report". Ideally, what would be good would be if there is an alert because of, for instance, low disc space - you could send an email that just contained the error and report showing the disc space information. It is not really a particular issue as such as the information in still there but in the longer email.

I did try and remove the non actual discs as you suggested but it didn't seem to work. It may be that I did something wrong so I will experiment further.

Again, a superb piece of software and a friend of mine has also bought the 5 license version on the strength of me showing it to him.

I must tell that network drives (NAS boxes) can't be monitored by any software - the NAS boxes do not provide any kind of status information.
So they can't be monitored by the Enterprise version also, the Enterprise version can monitor if drives actually connected to a computer (on USB / eSATA line and internally for any controller) disappears or connected to the system.
Network drives can't be monitored - except monitoring the total / free capacity used, which is possible in Hard Disk Sentinel Professional also (if you enable Configuration -> Disk Control -> Monitor space on removable disks option).

Yes, I can confirm that option (to configure the report components) affect all saved / sent reports, including the daily report and the alerts issued.
This way it is possible to configure which information should be sent - but (as you can see) the software automatically send the status of all drives, to help administrator to check the complete status of the system, without the need of an additional lookup / login.

The method I wrote removes the actual devices from the main window (user interface) but the drives can't be removed from the report, exactly to prevent the situation that the status of an important drive may be missing if it's disabled.
