hello,
using windows xp pro sp3 (32bit) i was going to test newly bought 2T drive (Hitachi HDS723020BLE640 branded as Toshiba DT01ACA200) in esata (JMicron JMB363) connected external dock (Akasa DuoDock)
i have installed hdsentinel pro 4.00 running as service
but thing that i couldn't run was {selected disk} > disk > surface test
everything else (smart readings, disk performance, self tests, disk info, ... ) seems working as normal
i downloaded a hdsentinel 4.20 pro portable version, but same situation, surface test don't start
with process hacker i see that under hdsentinel.exe storegetest.dll (which is probably responsible for disk surface test) launching and exiting on the next moment
i don't know is it bug of hdsentinel, likely my configration problem...
my question is: of what services and (redistributable) libraries surface test relies on?
surface test

Re: surface test
Thanks for your message. This sounds interesting - no user reported similar issue.
Did you see the small window "Initializing ..." when you select Disk -> Surface test ? (at least for a moment)
Can you please use Report -> Send test report to developer option ?
This may help to investigate the situation and check what could happen, for example if a driver or a device can cause troubles.
There are absolutely no special redistributable libraries required. This is why Hard Disk Sentinel can work on "plain" Windows installation, without the need of installing any kind of extra redistributables or so.
What happens if you try the computer with F8 -> SAFE mode and then try Disk -> Surface test that way? Just to check if it starts that way.
