Hard Disk Monitoring

Dear sir, I have been using the HDS for long since I bought it after trying and found it very useful in informing me about the temperature to shut down the pc.

Here In India The HD Temperature goes up very fast in summer. Without a loud alert sound it is missed. I have 4 Hard drives which went bad with all my data because I was not aware of temperature problem.

I have set the alert at 39 deg because HDS checks temp every 5 minutes , and the real temp when rising keeps going up fast. any way to reduce the time for checking .

I was using win 7 x32 and had no problem.

I upgraded to win 8 x64 . HDS works all right but alert sound is not audible at all . I reinstalled Win 8 X64 several times . I reinstalled HDS several times. I reinstalled Audio driver several times. but the alert sound is not audible.

I have downloaded the Latest Realtek Azalia Audio driver x64 and have installed it after installing win and using it .
The sound alert works fine on win 7 x32. but now I have installed win 7 x64 and have the same problem as win 8 x64 . So this is specific x64 win problem.
My motherboard is gigabyte P965 .

Thanks for your message and excuse me for the troubles.
During tests we did not experience any such issues with Win8x64.

Can you please tell me which sound alert file did you select to be used as alert?
On some systems MP3 file(s) to be used as alert may not working correctly, so if possible, please check what happens if you try a different file, for example the "HDnotify.wav" file installed with Hard Disk Sentinel.
Please confirm if that file works or not.

Also if you can use Report -> Send test report to developer option, it may help as then it is possible to check the sound device name and ID and installed driver version. This way it is possible to re-produce the problem and investigate it.

Ps. on Configuration -> Advanced options you can configure how often Hard Disk Sentinel should access and detect disk status information. Yes, I can confirm by default it detects status once per every 5 minutes - but you can specify much frequent (even once per every 5-10 seconds) detection.

I just got into Windows 8 x64 and I doesn't get any of such errors. Just want to share..
