Dear Craig,
Thanks for your message and thanks for ordering the software.
Yes, I can confirm that at the moment Dell PERC 5/i and 6/i controllers are supported as these are listed at
http://www.hdsentinel.com/compatibility ... ollers.php
According our current knowledge, other Dell controllers (like the H700) does not really provide any access to hard disks, that's why further details cannot be detected. We're constantly researching about different ways and of course ideally HD Sentinel would support all possible controllers (if that would only depend on me), but for some controllers, it depends on the manufacturer: if the functions required to access hard disk status are physically missing from the controller, its firmware or drivers, that may prevent detection of any kind of hard disk information.
The hourglass is really odd. It seems the controller does not even respond to Hard Disk Sentinel and this may result that the software seems "frozen" when it tries to access any kind (even partial) information.
The best would be to see a complete developer report (by using Report -> Send test report to developer option) as it may help to check what happens and also helps in development for the specific controller.
If it can't be completed because of the hourglass, please try the following:
Download the latest beta version:
http://www.hdsentinel.com/beta4/hdsenti ... p40012.zip
as it has some improvements for various controllers, things may work better with that.
If the information is still not reported in this version, please try the following:
1) close HDSentinel (if running) by File -> Exit
2) please click on Start -> Search in Windows and enter CMD.EXE then right click on the displayed CMD.EXE and select "Run as administrator".
(I assume you have Win7x64 running).
2) Navigate to the folder of the software by entering
CD "\Program Files (x86)\Hard Disk Sentinel"
and then enter
HDSentinel.exe /REPORT /ENABLETEST /RAID
this should start the software and also save a HDSentinel_4.00.12 PRO_report.txt , a testmode.txt and RAID.TXT file to the folder of the software.
Please send me those files in e-mail as they dump all response between the communication of the disks (the disk controller) and the software. These files may help to check what the Intel controller respond when the disks are accessed and may confirm which operation(s) take too much time which causes that the software seems frozen while waiting for the response for the controller.
Excuse me for the issues, hopefully things could be improved.
