"SC" Fields in SMART data for SAS Drives?

There are a bunch of unknown fields for these Seagate EXOS SAS drives I'm running. Is there any documentation on these, anywhere? Thanks. Actually looking for documentation on the SAS specific SMART entries in general (i.e. entries you don't find on SATA disks), but I can't seem to find any info on these even with Google search.

Code: Select all

Like you, I'd be happy if there would be any documentation on these, anywhere.

These are vendor specific SMART attributes. All standard (and known) SMART attributes are identified, their name/meaning (and values) displayed in Hard Disk Sentinel as you may see - but many SAS drives have (even dozens) of such special attributes, defined by the manufacturer.

Sometimes the drive manual mention these - but according the experiences, manufacturers do not really prefer to publish the meaning of these vendor-specific attributes, so their name/meaning may remain unknown.

I'd recommend to check the manual of this specific model - as maybe it can give some info/details, but I worry that it will not...

As always, if you use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option, it always helps. Many of such reports helped to identify how particular (originally unknown) attributes should be reported: they may contain statistical information (eg. related to power on time, power cycles, etc.) or so.
