Hard Disk Sentinel trial (unregistered) version (in addition to detect/display the disk status) offers only one test: the Disk menu -> Short self test.
This hardware self test built-in most hard disks / SSDs verifies all components in general: both electronic and mechanic parts of the drive.

For more intensive disk tests suggested at

https://www.hdsentinel.com/faq.php#tests

you'd need a complete (registered) version. This is recommended not only to perform a disk test and/or perform a disk repair later if required, but also to have constant monitoring to detect/notify about any issue, degradation or temporary problem (eg. overheat during intensive disk operation) which could be missed otherwise.
