Surface test Re-Initialise

I'm running a Surface Test reinitialise against a SAS drive from a RAID 5 array that went inconsistent.

When I took the dirve out and introduced it to HDS, it reported 4 uncorrected read errors and 3 uncorrected write errors.

Not long into the process it hit a sticky spot on the drive which it eventually got past showing two blocks in yellow.

It also reported two CRC errors.

Read error count is now up to 38.

Should I just throw this one?

Personally I'd not feel safe to use in a critical environment, in a RAID array.

CRC errors alone may be related only to connections (sometimes the SAS backplane if used) but if errors detected during the disk testing if the drive moved to a different environment, then it is not safe to continue using it.

Not sure about its complete status (eg. its power on time) but if it's high, then I'd surely replace.

Thank you

It's good to get confirmation that my interpretation of the results was correct - Use only as a "scratch" disk.

It won't go near the RAID array again!

Thanks
