Hard Disk Monitoring

Hello, HDS is reporting an eminent failure on one of my hard drives, but it is citing a high wear leveling count and recommends "replacing the SSD." I thought wear leveling count was specific to SSDs, and my drive is not an ssd. The drive is a RAID5 member. I don't think it is even a hybrid. Any ideas on what is going on here? I can provide the rest of the log if needed.

Seems so weird: the Intel chipset driver seems provided the status of a different drive (probably an SSD) when the status of this specific hard disk detected.
Personally encountered similar with a very-very old Intel RAID driver (around version 10.x) and never saw similar with a recent driver of the Intel RAID chipset driver.
Please use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option as it can help to check, examine what happens exactly and how it would be possible to add extra protection against such/similar issue with the Intel driver.

Done. Just incase you are the one who sees those, I messed up my report comment--my system no longer detects the drive, must have died. My comments makes it seem like I can still see it, so that report unfortunately probably isn't useful.

Yes, I see that you originally had a RAID 5 with 4 hard disk drives - but from the report, I only see 3 hard disk drives, all of them are 100% healthy.

It seems when one of the hard disk drives failed (or "just" disconnected? Maybe related to cable/connection only?) the Intel driver provided the status of your SSD (which is independent from the array but connected to the same Intel chipset controller) somehow in place of the missing drive. This caused the weird notification.

Now as the drive is no longer accessible for the controller, it is missing in Hard Disk Sentinel - and the RAID controller shows the alert due to the degraded array.

May I ask what happened with the drive? Did you see previously any message, warning, alert or "just" high temperature with it? I'd surely try to remove and check in a different system, eg. with USB adapter/dock, just to verify if it can still work or not....

As I double checked the drives, I see that they are far over their designed lifetime, the remaining 3 drives have

and all of them shows "Estimated Remaining Lifetime: more than 100 days". I assume that the 4th drive also had a similar value.

Generally when drives reach the end of their designed lifetime, sudden/unforeseen failure is more common. Depending on how they used, the drives can work error-free (many times for years) - but then can fail completely without any signs.
This is why generally the Estimated Remaining Lifetime decreases in Hard Disk Sentinel and the "100 days" suggest that in a mission critical environment, it may be good idea to plan/consider replacement.

A very common complete failure situation is when 100% same drives (from same batch) configured as RAID 1 or RAID 5 - and when one of the drives reach the end of the designed lifetime, other(s) can also follow quickly (especially if they need to perform intensive transfers, eg. due to rebuilding).

Fortunately at least in your case the power on times are different. I do not say that any of the other drives will also SURELY fail soon - but I'm afraid there is very high chance for that, especially if they are still using in RAID 5 configuration. Just note that now the array is not protected, so I'd surely perform backup (eg. to external drive) first before any attempts to rebuild the array.
