Hard Disk Monitoring

Hi there
HDsentinel pro 5.61 reminded me of replacing a HDD.
So I added a new factory sealed HDD to the system.
Now in HDsentinel I do see the new HDD with all its metadata, but the disk is not visible in diskpart nor Disk Management* (WS2016).
In Disk Management there is a disk visible that is not initialized and cannot be initialized "The system cannot find the file secified".
I have two identical systems and did the same on both systems.
On the other system the new HDD appeared with the full capacity immediately.
Now I've exchanged the two HDDs but to no avail, on the second system all is good, ie the disk that was a problem is working there, while on the first system the other disk shows the same problem.

So I'm having a problem on system 1, with hdsentinel being the only one seeing the new disk.
Any hints what the problem might be?

The problem is likely related to the BIOS and/or the chipset drivers: the system probably has a compatibility issue when it needs to manage the disk drive. In this case the hard disk drive may be detected in Hard Disk Sentinel - but the system can't read/write.
Not rare with an older BIOS / driver especially if this is a larger disk drive (3 TB or above).

Personally I'd try to compare the BIOS versions of the systems and the Disk Controller field on the Information page in Hard Disk Sentinel: this shows the current controller and the current driver version/date. So you can check if there is any update which may work better with the new disk drive.

If you use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option when Hard Disk Sentinel can see the drive but the system does not, it may help and give ideas about what to check first.

It's two almost identical systems (same MB and BIOS) and the HDDs are at least marketed identical (total of 10 WD GOLD 10TB disks).
It probably has to do with the enclosure that houses those 5 HDDs per system.
Anyway, I did send the report. Will be interesting if there's sosmething to learn from it.

ok, problem solved, the disk was sleeping!
Seen that in HDsentinel, woke up using HDsentinel et voila, disk can be used.
Kinda strange, but solved nonetheless.

You mentioned the enclosure: may I ask its manufacturer/model? Just to check as it can be related anyway.

It is the Supermicro 842TQ-865B Rack case.
We have two of them.
The rightmost HDD on one of them went sleeping, not on the other one.
