I just bought WD External Hard Drive 4TB to back up my videos (7 days ago)
after the backup complete im trying to create a thumbnail marker using "Video Thumbnail Marker" to see if any of my video files are good
usualy when your video files corrup  t some frame will just skip and then some of the thumbnail will not be created
and if your video files are complete broken, the program usualy mark it as x (or as Media Player Classic Cannot render file)

in the middle of progress the program becomes not responding... so i force close it by task manager and im trying to eject the drive but it would'nt let me,
then when im trying to open the drive it becomes very slow... it takes too long till i plug it out
think that maybe something wrong with the drive i look up hdd sentinel and it show me that the drive have weak sectore and the health initialy drop to 90+% till now 52%

when i try to access the drive (again) i notice some of my video files are broken, well i don't know if it complete broken all i know is the the files are so slow to open even make the MPC not responds... i have my way to know if the videos are broken by search in the explorer by their extention (ex: .mp4) and if the thumbnail of the video is not shown i take it as broken video (im trying to open some of them and yeah it will not open)

next thing i do is backup to another hard drive (bc i bought 2) in the process i have some files that just can't be copied the transfer drop to zero,i take it that the files also broken, i skip them and backup what i can, then complete wipe the drive using minitool partition (wipe fill zero) the health doesnt improve

i try to do disk - surface test - disk test (all sector comes out green and all good) the health doesnt improve (i don't have screen capture of this  )
then i copy back all of the video files back to this drive, and then quick format the other one (because i want to backup something lese to that drive  )
what make me confuse is that the performance of the drive is good, transfer speed and all that is really good... but it makes me worry because the health is doesnt improve

next thing i do is do disk - surface test - repair, found new pending sector and said all the sector(s) succesfully repaired
i also found some of the affected file, now when im try to copy the file that i just succesfully copy from the other drive, the transfer speed drop to zero at 90% progress (but i can play it with no promblem tho) i also can delete the file...

i know that there's other way to try to fix the health is do disk - surface test - Reinitialize disk surface but im not yet to try becase i don't have any backup drive

Noted :
- The Performance of the drive is good
- Disk - Surace Test - Repair _ found new pending sector and repair all them but not decrease the S.M.A.R.T. count
- i found one affected file and no way to find all of the new affected file (File: Error: Unable to detect partition / logical drive information. E: -12)
unless i do the surce test - repair again using advanced option
- Now im afraid that i affected the good drive because im trying to backup the file from this broken drive
(because i read somewhere that weak / pending sector can cause by a broken files)

I suggest to please check the link recommended in the text description when weak/pending sectors detected and reported:

https://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_ca ... ectors.php

It describes that (I'm afraid) everything you see is completely normal and expected:
- as a result of weak sectors, files/folders can't be read. So video files can't be played (or you may notice broken video), the files may not be copied
- the weak/pending sectors in many cases related to the operating environment, caused by cables, connections or power source
- and because of this nature, if you attempt to perform REPAIR, then the sectors could be usually repaired - but you may expect new weak/pending sectors again and again. This is why the health may not increase - unless you try to eliminate/fix the original problem (by checking cables, connections, power source) and only THEN starting any kind of repairs.

While in most cases it is possible to determine which file(s) affected, this may be not always possible: if a directory descriptor damaged (so a particular directly may be not readable at all) then we may not know which file is located on the appropriate sector

Generally the Disk Repair test is good - but only useful when the amount of weak/pending sectors is relatively low. If their count is high then I'm afraid yes, it is "normal" that you can see new and new weak sectors, so generally the situation and the health of the disk drive does not change - unless you perform a complete disk erase.

No need to use any other tools: if you prefer to have a complete, fastest overwrite with zeroes, you can use Disk menu -> Surface test -> Write test (but only after a backup). Yes, the Disk menu -> Surface test -> Reinitialise Disk Surface would be the best, but it may take (much) longer time than a simple overwrite-with-zeroes, which is done by the Disk menu -> Surface test -> Write test function.

This should stabilize generally all weak sectors, so ideally (if the cables, connections, power source etc.) are all correct, then you'll see increased health - and no more weak/pending sectors.

If you use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option (even now and/or any further tests or normal use) I can examine, compare the status, verify possible change in error count and advise.

I've reinstall my laptop, clean instal, sigh that i wouldnt be able to sent any log to you
i've check or use bunch of cable already, the performance is just the same they're great
i also buy another 4TB Western digital to backup these file and then try to perfom Disk menu -> Surface test -> Reinitialise disk surface

but i would lie to ask,
1. Why do when i perfom Disk menu -> Surface test -> Repair it says all sector pending are repaired but there still sector pending count in S.M.A.R.T. ?
2. What percentage Disk menu -> Surface test -> Reinitialise disk surface will delete all sector pending count in S.M.A.R.T. ?

1) In some rare situations (even after all pending sectors fixed, stabilized by the Disk Repair test and a following read test may show no problems at all) the hard disk drive may not automatically decrease the pending sector count in S.M.A.R.T.
Then this may happen after some time, during normal use - or you may use the Disk menu -> Surface test -> Reinitialise disk surface to force the hard disk to "notice" that all such sectors are stable and the weak sector count should be decreased. So ideally after the Disk menu -> Surface test -> Reinitialise disk surface, the counter should go back to zero.

2) Sorry, I do not really understand.... Do you mean that how much % of the disk surface area should be tested by the Disk menu -> Surface test -> Reinitialise disk surface?
As the original weak/pending sector can be anywhere, the best is to perform the complete surface area (100% of the disk drive).
According the image (notice the darker green blocks, indicating where the disk was slower, probably due to the original issues and the time required to fix them) in your case it is best to allow the test to process the complete hard disk drive.
