Hard Disk Monitoring

Hi,

yesterday I was forced to test out the new feature "Monitor Windows Event Log" which I find very useful getting another view on potential HDD problems:
In my case the root cause was a faulty external enclosure which I replaced, then tested the whole drive again (0 surface errors, SMART passed, etc.). Nevertheless I'm now left with 96% health:
"Error translation: An error was detected on device \Device\DeviceName during a paging operation."

I tried deleting all windows event logs but I cannot recover back to 100% health. With SMART values I can set offsets but this doesn't seem to be possible with windows event log issues?
Is there any way to let HD Sentinel forget about this windows event log triggered issue?

Yes, Windows Event Log Monitoring function designed to monitor and report problems reported in the Windows Event Log.
All issues (related to the actual drive) are monitored, reported - and the health is affected by those, as you can see.

Bu I can confirm that NO, of course these problems are NOT PERMANENT. Hard Disk Sentinel reports them for some time and then - if there are no new problems, those issues will be automatically discarded and go out, as they are no longer applicable. Then the health will automatically go back, even to 100% if there are no (other) problems found.

This happens in approximately 14 days after the LAST event detected, recorded.

If you prefer to remove them immediately, without waiting, please simply follow the instructions reported in the text description:

The following function can be used to improve the situation: Disk menu -> Surface test -> Disk Repair

This test performs a disk surface test and if no problems found with the drive, it will automatically clear the errors detected from Windows Event Log.
So if you do not want to wait some days, just start this test - and if it completes successfully (which confirms that the disk is stable) these errors will be removed and the health will also increase back. The lower graph will today show the previous value (as it shows the daily lowest health detected) but from tomorrow that graph should show the higher value too.

Great to know about the 14 days window and a successful disk repair instantly restoring back to 100% which makes a lot of sense.

That said my temporary "solution" isn't really smart: I deleted both the .wed and .wel file of the respective hard drive and got back to 100% health instantly.

I really like the Windows Event Log feature, thanks for adding it to the already amazing HD Sentinel.

One additional idea: HDDs these days come with workload limitations like 180TB or 300TB read + write / year. HD Sentinel only seems to show the amount of written data. It would be great to show the total workload (data seems to be in the SMART values).
