Hi,
Up until hdsentinel_pro_setup_47114-rrtop HD Sentinel has fully supported my RAID array on an LSI 9280e controller, from hdsentinel_pro_setup_47115-sdsew and 5.0 final, this is no longer working. Once rolled back to the last known version, all ok again.
Using the drivers, 6.712.13.0 within Windows 10
If you need anything else to assist with this, let me know.
Thanks
Bug with LSI MegaRAID SAS controller

Re: Bug with LSI MegaRAID SAS controller
Thanks for your message.
Yes, recently discoverd that generally the detection of LSI / Intel Embedded RAID controllers can be problematic: their newer drivers crash completely (caused BSOD) when accessed.
Excternal LSI SAS controllers like the 92xx controller should be not affected, that is safe to access so it is surely detected in 5.00 - unless you have an embedded controller too which may cause troubles. If there is an embedded controller present, it is required to switch it to AHCI mode in order to allow the detection of status on the external controller, as then it will (technically) not work as an LSI RAID controller and not cause compatibility issues.
Because of this, newer Hard Disk Sentinel versions needed special filtering mechanism to verify if the controller is safe to detect - but if not, for safety reasons, the MegaRAID controller (and possible other LSI controllers) no longer accessed, to be 100% safe, until further information and reports could be collected and investigated.
I'd suggest to please
- if you have Embedded MegaRAID controller too, please switch to AHCI mode. Then as it will not cause problems, the detection of the LSI add-on card should be done automatically in the latest version.
- install version 5.00 and use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option
- revert back to last working version where you see different results and use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option with that too.
This would help to investigate the situation, check the current controller(s), the response and examine the possibilities.

Re: Bug with LSI MegaRAID SAS controller
Thanks, I have uploaded reports via Report menu -> Send test report to developer option on both 5.00 and 4.71.14 beta versions.

Re: Bug with LSI MegaRAID SAS controller
Thanks for the reports and your help.
I can confirm that today in the meantime I received similar information from different source and made an updated version.
Please download the newest 5.01 version which should detect and display the status information again.
It is available now on http://www.harddisksentinel.com/hdsenti ... _setup.zip
or you may use the automatic update from File menu.
If possible, please send a new developer report with that too - just to confirm the situation - or if things are still not perfect, it would help.
Thanks for your attention and excuse me for the troubles.
