Exporting Smart Data to Excel

I would really appreciate some help with exporting data. I have been trying to export SMART data to Excel without any success. I believe that I can export individual SMART data items in .CSV format. If I select a SMART data item for a particular disk, like Power On Time Count for example, how do I export the time data set for that parameter and what is the filename and location of the file containing the exported data? I'm using version 4.6 Pro.

By Hard Disk Sentinel, you can export SMART data several ways. Not directly to file (so no need to search for file at any location) but to the clipboard, so then it can be pasted/exported in any ways you prefer.

For example:
1) right click on the S.M.A.R.T. attribute list and select "Copy entire page to clipboard" to copy all attributes and the displayed numbers to the clipboard.
Maybe first you may right click and select "Decimal data fields" to show the numbers in the "Data" column in decimal format.

Then, the best way to process the data is to open notepad and select Edit -> Paste. You can then save the file by any name and to any folder and you can load in Excel (for example) or process it in any ways you prefer. The columns separated by comma (,) so if you save as CSV file, Excel should immediately recognise it.

2) if you prefer to focus on a particular attribute and check how it is changing with time, then please select the attribute (for example "Power On Time Count" and right click on the graph on the bottom. Then select "Save disk information" which really exports the numbers to CSV file: you can specify its folder and name in the save dialog.
The file contains the displayed dates and the displayed numbers for the dates. By opening that in Excel, you can make a bigger graph to examine the change of the S.M.A.R.T. value.
Maybe first you may double click on the S.M.A.R.T. graph: this toggles displaying ALL recorded values for all days (by default Hard Disk Sentinel automatically selects dates to display onthe graph).

Thanks so much for replying so quickly. I have tried method 2) but when I click on "Save Disk Information" nothing happens and I do not get a save dialog box. I'm running version 4.6 on Windows 8.1 64bit.

This sounds interesting. The save dialog should be displayed to allow selecting/entering the file name.

What happens if you try with the latest beta 4.60.13 version (available from the Download page or directly from http://www.hdsentinel.com/beta4/hdsenti ... -drwwa.zip )
To install, please just close the current version by File -> Exit and (withut uninstallation) install the new to the same folder, where 4.60 installed. This way the updated version will use all settings, statistics, registration details - and may work differently.

If things are the same, please use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option with that, as then it is possible to check the actual configuration and verify what can be wrong.

I've done a little more testing and found that it is actually only two SMART parameters that do not show a Save Dialog when clicking on "Save Disk Information" they are 193 - Load/Unload Cycle Count (which is the one I am interested in, in my situation) and 4 - Start/Stop Count. All the other parameters do produce a Save Dialog box which provides a means to save the parameter details over time as a .CSV file. Any thoughts on why those two parameters don't seem to be savable? I have not yet tried the 4.60.13 beta.

Thanks, I see!
I double checked and on one system I saw the similar issue. I'm checking and will provide an updated version soon, where should be no problems.

Thanks for your attention and excuse me for the troubles !!

Please check this updated version:

www.hdsentinel.com/beta4/hdsentinel_pro ... -nhnac.zip

as hopefully there will be no issue with exporting S.M.A.R.T. data.

To install this update, please

1) completely close the current running Hard Disk Sentinel Pro by File -> Exit
2) without un-installation, install this version to the same folder, where the previous installed.
This way after startup, this version will automatically use all settings, statistics, registration details.

Please let me know if you can export the values with this version. Thanks for your attention and excuse me for the troubles.

Have a Happy, Healthy, Fantastic New Year ;)
