Ultra ata crc error count going up
There are six drives on the system now, four Seagate 3tb drives connected on the AMD controller via hot swap
level 10 GT Thermaltake case ( hot swap is not active ), a Seagate 3tb and 320 gig Seagate connected on the Marvell
controller via esata encloses.
The first two drives connected on through the AMD controller show up in device manager as just drives; think they
are running in IDE mode and the other two drives show up as Sata drives.
Both drives on the Marvell controller show as scsi devices.
Windows installed a standard Sata ahci controller on first install but due to some issues I installed the AMD sata controller.
Just recently I installed hard disk sentinel professional on this computer and started getting reports about ultra ata crc error count.
This is continuing to go up on every boot of the computer and at times the numbers can be randomly higher.
This drive is only a few months old with hardly any space taken up on it
I have switched the sata cables, connected the drive to another sata slot, and even put it on the Marvell controller;
reverted back t the standard controller, with no change.

Re: Ultra ata crc error count going up
Yes, it is a common problem: Win10 may install old drivers by default which need update / change.

Do you mean the errors still reported?
This is completely normal: the hard disk counts and reports all problems (like the data communication problems) in its lifetime.
As it does not "know" that the controllers, drivers, cables changed, it still reports these problems - until you manually clear them in Hard Disk Sentinel: as then they will be no longer reported - and Hard Disk Sentinel will only display new problems (if there will be).
Or do you mean the errorc-counter is still increasing?
Then there may be an other factor which causes unstable operation. General (system) overheat, CPU overclocking are other common causes of data communication problems - but could be related to the eSata enclosure itself.
Please check http://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_cas ... _error.php
for more infomation about this situation, how to diagnose and avoid them in general - and how to clear the error counter in Hard Disk Sentinel.
