Only partiion E: overheats

I keep getting a strange event. I get a warning that my storage partition is overheating. I have a terabyte HD partitioned into C:\ for the OS, and then D:\ and E:\. E partition is only for storage for files, movies, and photos. I keep getting a warning signal that E:\ is over heating, but the other two partitions are okay. What could cause this and is there a remedy?

Generally, not partitions - but hard disks can overheat.
If both partitions (C: , D: , E: ) are located on the same hard disk, then of course the physical hard disk is overheating.
Just it is possible that the higher hard disk activity (for example higher amount of data processing, resulting by some disk-intensive operation, for example defragmentation, anti-virus scan and so) on your E: partition triggers the overheat alert - as maybe other partitions (C: and D: ) have less files, less amount of data.

If you see such during processing all of your parttions (for example during anti-virus scan, which sequentially scans C: , D: , E: partitions in this order) then it is possible that the hard disk reaches the high temperature always when the E: partition processed. But of course if other partitions are on the same physical hard disk, then the data stored on those partitions are also affected - a possible failure (resulted in high temperature) would affect other partitions as well.

If you use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option, I can examine the actual situation, verify the reported temperature value for the hard disk. The best is to use it when you receive the overheat notification, as then I can check the reported temperature.

Generally, the best is to use some additional cooling, for example position a fan in the computer case to cool down the hard disk.
During intensive hard disk usage, the temperature can rise 15-20 Celsius (or even more, depending on the hard disk model and operating conditions, for example computer case, cooling, other components like CPU / RAM / VGA card).
