Generally, Hard Disk Sentinel is designed for data protection, to monitor and report problems related to the drives, allow ways to diagnose and fix hard disks.
Yes, benchmarks are nice - just not the most important in this field.

Currently, yes, you may use the Disk menu -> Random Seek Test (which is designed to test the seek / servo element).
Also you may use Disk menu -> Surface test -> Read test to diagnose the complete disk surface and get accurate information about the complete disk performance. This acts like a benchmark, showing complete transfer rates for all parts of the hard disk, not only min/max values, just (because it checks all data sectors) it also verifies that are there any problems with the hard disk - or not, so it is more detailed.
