anyone has sucessfully managed a WD Caviar 1000GB type 10001FALS?
HD sentinel provides only few information, and cannot control the Acoustic level!

This is surely not the problem with the drive of the software.
Usually, the hard disk controller driver causes problems and prevents some functions (for example reading all information and/or controlling the acoustic level).

I also recommend to check the disk with the DOS version of Hard Disk Sentinel: http://www.hdsentinel.com/hdsdos.php
It is designed especially for this issue - to provide information about disks (and allow the change of acoustic level) even if these are not possible under Windows.
If you can use the "Report" menu "Send test report to developer" function, I can examine the situation and may give more details based on the actual configuration / disk controller or its driver.
