Can't Clear HDD errors?
Can't Clear HDD errors?
I did a full disk surface test > Reinitialize Disk Surface (Destructive) and it finished with 0 errors or bad sectors. I then read the guide to update the offset in the SMART tab, but it still shows 0%. What's going on? How do i clear the error?

Re: Can't Clear HDD errors?
When the count of errors reach the threshold specified by the manufacturer (and then health drops to 0%) it is not possible to clear the errors because the hard disk is physically bad. You should ask for warranty replacement (if the drive has warranty).
This is also described at the guide: http://www.hdsentinel.com/faq_repair_ha ... _drive.php
(see the bottom for this information:
Please note that if the hard disk has really high amount of problems (and the health % displayed is 0%) then the hard disk can't be repaired. When 0% health displayed, should ask for warranty replacement of the hard disk. )
Even if the status now (after the testing) seems fine, it may be temporary only. Due to the high number of errors, new and new problems may be reported any time. Also for a such hard disk new Windows installation may not be possible.

Re: Can't Clear HDD errors?
thanks for the response. I really was only wanting it as a backup to the most important files on my Raid 5. It is way out of warranty, very old, and hopefully never to be needed. Might be time to pick up another drive though.
