ICH5R 82801ER UDMA 100/66/33 SATA 1.5 Gbit/s, 2 Ports RAID0, RAID1 Rev 2.0, 6 Ports Rev 2.3, 6 PCI slots is what wiki says, and device manager and the intel matrix manager 5.5 agree with the 82801ER number.
This is an old Dell XPS gen 2...the mean blue box!! It must be ten years old.
I read your compatibility list as ICH5 and i was hoping that the R wasn't going to be a problem, but 430 pro and standard didn't seem to like this computer much. maybe because i have 2 disks in a raid0? if that means span..then yes.
they are mismatched disks, but they seem to be plenty good to run windows 7 32.
This machine is just a home toy for now, unless it proves to be very stable...i might get some new platters and put it to other use.
So i guess my question would be, does the R in ICH5R make this machine incompatible?
Or i wonder if there is a newer intel driver for it.
Product Detected Intel® 6, 5, 4, 3, 900 Series Chipsets
Current Version Installed 9.1.1.1025
This version is valid.
This really isn't an important machine at all, and i wish you not to waste time with it.
But if there is something simple that i missed...i will try again.
thank you.
Personally i think your software is amazing.
It works very very well on other machines i have tried it on.
ICH5R win7 - will it work?

Re: ICH5R win7 - will it work?
I'm afraid no, it does not work
As you may see on
http://www.hdsentinel.com/compatibility ... ollers.php
in the "RAID Controllers" section, Intel ICH7R and newer RAID controllers work only in RAID mode.
This is not really the limitation of Hard Disk Sentinel (if it would be - of course it would be already fixed/improved) but the problem is that Intel did not release proper drivers for this controller which would allow detection of complete hard disk status.
This is possible with ICH7R and newer chipset.
With ICH5, only standalone hard disk status can be detected and displayed - but if the drives configured as RAID, the hard disks can't be reached.
Anyway, if you have the opporunity to use Report -> Send test report to developer option, that may help to check.
To be honest, the driver you mentioned is newer than what we used for testing with ICH5R, so it is possible that something is possible with the driver you mentioned. The Report -> Send test report to developer option helps in all cases to investigate the possibilities.
Thanks for your kind words Glad to hear Hard Disk Sentinel seems helpful !

Re: ICH5R win7 - will it work?
HD sentinel being helpful is an understatemnt.
Vital to my peace of mind is a bit more accurate.
One thing i always tell owners is that HDs have the same failure rate as people. 100%...just a matter of time.
Again..this involves the revival of a 10 year old Gamer Computer. I have it working very well, and I don't require special attention for it.
But in case you want i've attached the system infos. Win7's and Intel Matix Manager 5.5's system report.
Way at the bottom of the intel downloads i found this 5.5 version to be compatible, and is running in win732. A picture with a green circle drawn around the disks is comforting, but it's not HDSentinel.
ok...i think they are attached.
p.s. A little story. 4.30 wouldn't play nice on this 10 year old desktop chipset. I found a copy of 4.10 portable to try. It eventually loaded on this old chipset, but immediately expired...but it loaded, and paused before it shuts itself down. Before I clicked OK, in the background inside HDS, i noticed two things..one that the drives behind the RAID0 were ( *as predicted and noted in the docs for this old chipset) not accessable. But here is the charmer: I've been searching high and low, across two provinces, for months, to try and locate the second TWIN and matching physical seagate drive that i knew existed...you know, for a well matched raid set. No Luck..asked all the relatives. HD Sentinel found it for me. It was inside the computer all along, just hiding very well. So you see? Can't live without HD Sentinel. Even an expired trial version does miracles.

Thanks so much for your kind words, glad to hear Hard Disk Sentinel seems helpful
To be honest, it would be really nice to investigate possible troubles, espeically if you had a startup issue with 4.30 on this old PC as I feel it is important to have highest compatibility, to allow it to run on older systems (even I could not imagine how many companies / users have Win2000 and NT4 (!!) working these days and they prefer to have Hard Disk Sentinel).
I did not find attachments ... Can you please send to info@hdsentinel.com directly?
But if you can use Report -> Send test report to developer option in any version (maybe the most recent version you can use, eg. 4.10 or 4.20), that would help most.
You can find these older versions on the bottom of the Download page ( http://www.hdsentinel.com/download.php )

I have one company on my list that is exactly that. 2000, software mirror, hd sentinel.
I got portable 430 to run, so you should have email and one or two HDS reports from within.
peace.
