Hi,
Happy 2022 !
I see this issue on two PC with:
1) different Hardware
2) different O.S. ( 1 x Windows 10 LTSC & 1x Windows 7 Enterprise
3) same HDSentinel vers. 5.70 PRO
Other info:
a) the issue occured RANDOM
b) When the end user call me due slow response time of the PC, is enough kill HDS. If I restart immediately HDS the CPU usage BACK NORMAL (see point 1. on the attached) !
Some little suggestion ?
Thanks !
Luciano

Re: CPU usage 100% due HDSentinel
Thanks for the image and the details!
Sounds so interesting. Generally this should never happen of course becuse Hard Disk Sentinel (between the detection cycles) is just waiting, without performing any actions.
So (assuming that the detection frequency is the default 5 minutes), Hard Disk Sentinel is performing status detection only for a very short period (eg. 1 second or so) and for 4 minutes 59 seconds it is just waiting. There is nothing which can indicate/cause 100% CPU use.
One user reported similar - due to a failed Windows update and after the Windows update restarted and the system finished a reboot cycle, there were no further issues.
If you'll see next time, the best would be to (before terminating Hard Disk Sentinel) use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option - as it may give some ideas, thoughts.
Also if Hard Disk Sentinel closed, I recommend to please check the folder of the software and investigate which files modified just before terminating (eg. LOG.TXT) and send them in e-mail to info (at) hdsentinel (dot) com
This may give some ideas, thoughts about what happen on the actual system.

Re: CPU usage 100% due HDSentinel
Hi!!
Some time has passed since my post....
Remember & update:
a) This issue occured on different hardware and on differents operating system version
b) Still with HDS vers. 6.30
c) Absolutely random. Example: no problem for 20/30 days and later 2 times in one hours
I have build an batch to bypass this exotic issue ...and it run with success for more than 1 year ..if anyone is interested.
This batch/exec is started every 15 minuts with windows scheduler.
If HDS's cpu usage, for 2 consecutve time, is > 30% the HDS is killed & reloaded
Before kill, I backup HDSentinel.ini,log.txt (that is ok !!!), devicemove.txt, DriveAddRemoveLog.txt, HDSActions.ini, HDSActions.log and project_log.txt
) I can insert it on my batch
Thanks for support !

If available a internal cmd of HDS for create a Report ( like Sentinel.exe /reporthdsentinel wrote: ↑2022.01.28. 15:41 If you'll see next time, the best would be to (before terminating Hard Disk Sentinel) use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option - as it may give some ideas, thoughts.

Re: CPU usage 100% due HDSentinel
Did lots of testing, but generally Hard Disk Sentinel can simply never cause 100% CPU use (maybe except on a very old system with single-core CPU).
While could not reproduce the situation, in 6.30 version, an extra protection added against similar.

Sorry, but that would not give any thoughts.
If you see increased CPU use, then you'd need to use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option in THAT instance (not after restart).
If you see similar with latest 6.30 version, I can suggest to try to completely close the software (File -> Exit) and delete HDSentinel.INI file to have factory default settings, when no options/settings used (no remote monitoring with the Ent. Server and so) - and check if you encounter any similar (so then we may able to "connect" to some setting on your system and examine specifically).

Re: CPU usage 100% due HDSentinel
We encountered this issue recently, which we believe was triggered by a vulnerability scan (port scan) we conducted on our network.
Perhaps the problematic code is related to the remote connection code in the client.
We are using Hard Disk Sentinel Enterprise Server 1.47 and client version 5.40.

Sounds so interesting.
Can you please check with latest 6.30 version?
Generally version 5.40 is very-very old (released in 2019), since that, there were lots of updates.
You can try to manually install the latest 6.30 version installer over the old one, as it would update the software and keeps all settings, statistics, license etc.
Alternatively, you can contact directly at info (at) hdsentinel (dot) com about possible updated package (both the Enterprise Server and the client too).

Hi!
Thanks for your answer!
1x Fujitsu AH530 MY: 2009, O.S. Windows 7 Enterprise, 4 core
3x Fujitsu P410 MY: 2014, O.S. Windows 10 LTSC, 2 core
The issue is very very random, when it happens maybe I'm not available to connect the remote PC to create a report.
If this command is available (create report in to HDS folder) I could use it BEFORE kill HDS.
As you request, the Report can be useful for troubleshooting
if not clear pls tell me!
Considering: for me this is issue isn't a problem because my batch bypass quietly the problem
:
but....of course I’m available for some your test/request!!
Thanks for your answer!
