The NAS machine will run Linux (TrueNAS), but Hard Disk Sentinel offers the surface scan feature only in the Windows version. So, I installed Hiren's Boot CD PE (Windows 11 PE) on a bootable USB stick:
https://www.hirensbootcd.org/
then copied the portable version of Hard Disk Sentinel Pro to it.
When I boot from the USB stick and run HDSentinel.exe, I get the following error:
However, there is an icmp.dll file (12,288 bytes) in Windows\System32\. If I copy that file to the HDSentinel.exe folder and rerun, I get a different failure:The code execution cannot proceed because icmp.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.
What's the trick to running the portable version of Hard Disk Sentinel Pro within HBCD PE?The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.
Thanks!
