Crucial X9 - 'Unknown'

Post by EssEssDee »

I have a Crucial X9 Pro 4TB Portable External SSD connected to a USB3 port on my PC. HDD Sentinel recognizes assorted other SSD's, both internal and external, yet it won't recognize this one.

Any suggestions please?

Probably you use an older version of Hard Disk Sentinel, released before this SSD.

As described at

https://www.hdsentinel.com/revision.php

the latest version 6.20 has

added support of Crucial X9 Pro external SSD, Crucial X10 Pro external SSD

So please update to the latest version of Hard Disk Sentinel as then it will be detected, reported as should.

If not, then (as always) I suggest to use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option, as then it is possible to examine the situation.

Ah, my bad, thanks.

I'm using 6.10 - as I am a registered Pro user how do I update, do I just download 6.20 from your Downloads page or do I need to do something different to avoid erasing my registration info?

You can use the automatic update from File menu or manually install the latest version this way: just completely close the current version by File -> Exit
and (without uninstallation) simply install the new Hard Disk Sentinel Pro version in the same folder, overwrite all previous files.

The update keeps all settings, statistics, logs and license information too.

Thanks, I feel like an idiot - I was looking for an Update option under the Help menu. :)

I've now updated and the SSD is now being recognized. :D
