USB Device Recognition Issue with Rode Wireless Pro Microphones and HD Sentinel

Post by Flaumkuchen »

Hello, got the following issue with the latest HD Sentinel version

Description:
When connecting the Rode Wireless Pro microphones (in their charging case) to a Windows PC with HDS running, the system fails to recognize the device.

Issue Details:
• Error Messages: “USB device not recognized”
• “Unknown USB Device (Set Address Failed)” in Device Manager

Behavior:
• If HDS is running, the device is not recognized as a USB Mass Storage Device, preventing file transfer.
• If HDS is closed before connecting the charging case, the device functions correctly as a “USB Mass Storage Device,” and files can be downloaded without issues.

Environment:
• Tested on two different Windows 10 64-bit PCs.
• Same issue occurs on both systems.

Thanks for your attention, probably the device does not "like" the status detection procedure designed for USB drives.

Can you please do the following (when the device is NOT connected):

1) open Hard Disk Sentinel and at the Configuration -> Disk Control page, select the option "Disable detection of USB and SCSI drives" and then close this window (but keep Hard Disk Sentinel running).
This option disables the detection/access of USB/SCSI drives (and some others, eg. NVMe/RAID etc.) designed originally for some older memory card readers which may work similarly. Fortunately did not find such for 10+ years...

2) then (while Hard Disk Sentinel is running) connect the device. Probably it will work without problems.

3) use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option. Probably from the details from the developer report, it is possible to make a "filter" specifically for the device to prevent any conflicts with it, regardless of the above mentioned option (so then there will be no issue and you can continue using to monitor any possible other USB drives / devices too).

Thanks for increasing attention to this device and I'm looking forward to improve the situation, to avoid any troubles.

Thanks! Disabling of detection of USB and SCSI drives as you suggested helped. I've sent a report.
