How to repair SSD if possible
How to repair SSD if possible
Have an SSD that is dying. Any advice on if it can be fixed? I tried to run a quick-fix surface test on it, but it wouldn't even start really.

Re: How to repair SSD if possible
Probably too much sectors are damaged and "just" 35 sectors reallocated until now.
Did you have backup? Then I'd surely start the Disk menu -> Surface test -> Reinitialise Disk Surface test, which perform an intensive overwrite (which will clear all data) and try to stabilize the sectors: force reallocation if required or stabilize the current ones (simpler function usually incorrectly called as "low level format" in other tools).
If it does not help (too many errors) then I'd surely ask for warranty replacement. As I see, the power on time is very low, so there must be warranty for the drive.
Anyway, if you use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option, I'd be happy to check the complete status of this dying SSD. These reports about problematic drives always help lots in further development (as maybe the current calculated Health % is still too high for this drive).

unfortunately no backup. I will try to send a disk report later today. I will also contact the company for a warranty replacement. thanks!
