Hello,
I'd like to use HDS in "service mode" on a server. I have switched the already installed HDS to this mode and started the tray application.
My problem now is how to interact with the service:
- The "Tray Application" only gives temperatures, nothing else. If I switch it to "show highest temp only" there is no way to check the status of any other drive than the one chosen by HDS, all others are invisible. If I disable said option, I get one tray icon for each drive, which is impractical for a higher number of drives.
- The "status" window from the application mode version can be accessed via browser, but not via the tray application. The tray application instead offers the "Detailed Report" only.
- The "Detailed Report", on the other hand, is much _too_ detailed for daily use. It is nice to look up something, but not for a quick glance to see if "everything is ok".
So it seems I loose a lot of control by going to service mode. Instead, it would be great if the HDS-Application could connect to the service and show all data in the usual way, while asking the service to read the data instead of scanning by itself. In effect, the Application should be usable just like HDS was configured to Application Mode.
Is there a way to achieve this?
Regards

Re: Service mode - reporting
Thanks for your message and thoughts.
Yes, generally the Tray Application designed to offer very-very limited functionality and no configurable options.
However, the options can be pre-configured in the main Hard Disk Sentinel application (before switching to service mode):
- on Configuration -> Hard Disk Drives page, you can toggle the disk drives to be displayed on the tray by DOUBLE-CLICK on any drive. So you can configure which hard disk drives should have tray icon displayed.
The "Tray Application" follows this setting and displays only icons for the specific disk drives.
- on Configuration -> Message Settings page, you can select which items to be included in the complete report. You can disable several sections which may be not important to reduce the size and focus on the most important information only.
The "Tray Application" follows this setting and the report contains only the selected items.
Hope this helps with the Tray Application.
