Strange behavior of SanDisk SSD

Post by MrZebulon »

Hi All.
After I installed the last version of HD-Sentinel v6, I noticed a warning referring to my internal SanDisk 1TB. It's not that old
(around 20th of November lat year) and it worked fine, i.e. I didn't notice anything with HD-S v 5.70. This might be a setting
reason, because later on I could repeat the error message with the older version. So, it seems not a thing with the software.
You'll see the error in the first screenshot. I downgraded HD-Sentinel to reproduce the error message again with v5.7
The health sunk to 1% but the smart values seemed to be ok.

Worried about the error message, I changed the SSD against a brand new one, yesterday. The first couple of hours everything
seems to be ok. But when turned on my computer today and updated again to HD Sentinel v6, I had the same error message
with the new SSD.

So both SMART values of the two SSds are the same. I couldn't notice an error. And surprisingly the health is 1% with the brand
new SSD as well.
Maybe someone can solve this mystery for me.

Many thanks and kind regards
Roland

Thanks for your message and sorry for the possible troubles.

Sounds so interesting. Generally there should be no problem, the support of this SSD just changed in a recent version.

Can you please use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option?

Then I can check the situation and examine what happened and what to do. Maybe your SSD has a slightly different firmware (and works slightly differently than expected).

One user yesterday already noticed similar with same Sandisk model so I can confirm version 6.01 will be surely released shortly with a change specifically for this model. If you use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option, I can send the update first to check/confirm.

Hey support-team.

I will send a report from v6.
In the meantime, I installed my v5.70 from 27. January 2021.
There is a message but no warning and health is 100%, the same SSD.
See screenshot.
So it must be a software issue.

Kind redards
