Exclude drives from health status

Post by vipz »

In a system which has both SSD's and mechanical hard drives, the health status alert becomes somewhat ineffective.

It would be great to be able to exclude or even better have two different metrics for the drive types, ie SSD's is fully expected that over time the health will lower due to TBW/wear leveling etc so I am not that concerned with that figure dropping, however with my RAID array, if one of my drives even goes down a single %, I would like to be alerted to this event.

The current aproach makes one have to open to visually check on occasion to verify drive health now.

Thanks for your message and the idea.
I can confirm that it is already possible to configure different health thresholds for different devices: even all different devices can have their own yellow (warning) and red (alert) level.

So yes, by that, you can focus on health decrease of hard disks and configure different levels, for example 90% health threshold for hard disks and 50% health for SSDs. This way when the SSD health decreases (due to normal usage) below 90% (but above 50%) you'll not recelve alerts.

For this, just double click on the Health % bar of the appropriate selected device (hard disk or SSD) and you can configure the alert level for that particular device.

This is described in the Help:

See "Custom health thresholds" section.
