Are there issues with a particular Seagate drive

Post by snowshed »

HD Sentinel 4.71 Portable

Seagate ST4000LM024-2AN17V

Are there any compatibility issues between my copy of HD Sentinel and this Seagate Drive?

Thank you.

Thanks for your message and question.

I can confirm version 4.71 supports this hard disk without problems: can properly diagnose, recognise status, detect / reveal / fix problems by tests and so.

Just if you want to be 100% perfect, you may use the latest version 5.01 which has even better support.
The database of version 4.71 does not yet contain this particular model. So in 4.71 some details on the bottom of the Information page (physical dimensions etc...) missing - but this does not affect detection of disk status and managing the drive.

This will not make my brother-in-law happy. He bought this drive approximately 2 months ago, and 4.71 reports the health as 9%.

My copy of 4.71 is a paid for version. Can I update to 5.01 and use the same registration key?

Yes, I'm afraid the status, problems and the health are correctly reported.
If you (or your brother-in-law) prefer, please use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option, I can check the actual situation and help, but I suspect warranty replacement will be required.

Yes of course: if you have licensed version, you can any time upgrade to the latest version. If you have 4.71 installed, then you can perform automatic update from File menu to get the latest version (5.01 now).

I suspect my brother-in-law would prefer just to have it replaced.

Thanks for the help.
