I can confirm that there should be no problems, outlook / hotmail accounts are working without issues
(if not blocked by firewall).

Please verify the email configuration, maybe the username / password is not correct - or maybe the firewall blocks the connection.

Please check:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10801&p=14849&hilit=hotmail#p14849

Also it is possible that the smtp sending is blocked - the above link also describes a such situation:

Turns out that Outlook.com was blocking SMTP send on my account, for no apparent reason.
I cleared it up with Microsoft and sending is working now. Sorry for the false alarm, and thank you for your proactive help.

Just configure an alert which should be displayed:

1) On Configuration -> Message settings page, enable the "Display message on screen" option (and may disable the Send e-mail option if you want message to be displayed on the screen only).

2) Then on the Alerts page, enable one or more event(s) below the "Send/display message" column.

When that event happens (on the next periodic detection) - the appropriate alert is displayed.

For example, try to configure a yellow-temperature-limit alert: on Configuration -> Alerts page, under "When temperature is too high" enable the first alert (temperature value showed with yellow color) below the "Send/display message" column.

This way when the temperature of any hard disk is between the yellow and red thresholds, the alert displayed.
You may adjust the temperature thresholds at Configuration -> Thresholds / Tray icon.

Thanks, yes, sometimes adjusting the thresholds may help to trigger a test-alert ;)
