I have 2 questions.
1. How do I update the portable edition?
2. I have one portable version set up, can I somehow also find which key I used for that install?
I sent an email yesterday about how to find which license key used on each PC.
I mugged round the reg. db and found the key so now I have track of my licenses again.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\HD Sentinel (key)
Have a great day

Re: Update portable
(I already sent answers in e-mails, but may help other users too, so sending here also)
1)
If you already have the Portable version on a USB drive, the easiest way to update is to use the automatic update from File menu.
This checks and updates (if there is a newer version) automatically - while keeping all existing statistics, logs, registration details and so.
Alternatively for an update, you may download the latest Portable version from the Download page (or directly from
http://www.harddisksentinel.com/hdsenti ... rtable.zip ) and unpack to the folder of the previous Portable version by overwriting all older files (just completely close by File -> Exit first).
If you prefer to have a completely new, clean Portable version: please download the Portable version from
http://www.harddisksentinel.com/hdsenti ... rtable.zip and extract the pendrive to a new (empty) folder.
Then start it with HDSentinel.exe from this folder.
Please make sure that if you've the installed version also, then close it completely (by File -> Exit) before starting the Portable version, as at any given time, only one version can be active.
Then with the Portable version, please perform the registration and activation:
please click on "Help" and select "Enter registration key" in Hard Disk Sentinel Pro Portable
Please enter your name (or nickname) as username, the license code (15 digit number you received) and click on the "Register and activate on-line" button.
2)
The easiest way to check the current license code is:
1) select Configuration -> Send test report option.
2) use the "Create test report" button to create a test report in the box above that button
3) on the top of this test report, you may notice the Hard Disk Sentinel Pro version and below that
(Registered, Activated, Registered user: xxxx, Key: 1111111111111111)
where the key shows your license code used on this computer.
The registry method you wrote is a good solution - but only for the installed version.
As the Portable version does not store any information (including the registration code) in the registry, then that would not work, but the above mentioned method works for both the installed and portable versions too.
