Purpose of VB Script files hds_control_*.vbs etc
Hi, I'm currently considering to suppress the use of VBScript engine in Windows 10 due to security reasons. I found that HDS creates three VBS Scripts in %APPDATA% directory and at least one in the TEMP directory. I wonder what is the purpose of these scripts and what do I lose if I prevent running ...

Re: Logical drive information missing from one disk
Hi, Test report sent. The information was missing from TXT report also. The volume name is BACKUP and drive letter is B. The disk is an internal SATA disk and has always been connected. If there is some other information that could help you in finding the reason for this phenomenon, I'll be glad to ...

Logical drive information missing from one disk
Well, I just hope that I'm not missing something obvious again, but I accidentally noticed today that HDS omits Logical drive information from one drive in the HTML report. Usually the Logical drive information is displayed in the Hard Disk Summary section showing the drive letter and volume label. ...

Re: Disable individual disk monitoring
WOW! Forget everything I wrote in my previous message! I must confess something that you already must know, namely that I had completely missed the offset feature in the S.M.A.R.T page. THIS is actually what I wanted - and it's once again so great to notice that you have unbelievably quick response ...

Re: Disable individual disk monitoring
Is there a way to stop monitoring an individual disk? I recently ran into a situation where the health of a disk had been dropped through three phases down to 24% due to a total of 12 reallocated sectors (using the more strict server health calculation method). After having reinitialized the disk st...

Re: Create a report via command line and/or Projects interface
Thank you again for the quick response and for the information! I upgraded my software to V3.70 but was not able to find the report file. I guess I must now miss something very simple and obvious here... I am trying to adapt the "correct way" to use Windows 7 and use a Standard user accoun...

Re: Latest Enterprise Server version?
Sorry, I wasn't clear enough in what I wrote. We do have the Enterprise version for 10 Windows workstations and we are currently running version 1.40.2. Since I have not seen any news about new Enterprise Server versions in the HDS web pages since we purchased the license, I decided to ask about the...

Latest Enterprise Server version?
What is currently the latest HDS Enterprise Server version and what is the correct way to update it?
In the downloads area there seems to be currently only version 0.73 which is very old.

Create a report via command line and/or Projects interface
I have integrated HD Sentinel into an in-house developed backup and archival management software. One of its features is to automatically create and send a periodic report of the backup status of the computer. I have included an option to include also HDS status if HDS is installed on the computer. ...

Re: How to disable modification of hds_control.vbs?
Do you think it could be possible to change the creation of hds_control.vbs in a future version so that it would be created in e.g. Users\User-x\AppData\Local\HDSentinel instead of the current common Temp directory? That would make it easier to exclude it from a HIPS program which can operate only a...

Ok, it sounds that the web interface may be the correct solution for me. I'll have a look on it. Thanks again!

Re: How to disable modification of hds_control.vbs?
Thank you for the quick reply even at the weekend! Unfortunately the HIPS I'm using only allows excluding at the directory level and I cannot exclude the common Temp directory where the vbs file is created. Yes, I do have the "Load with Windows" checked. I also noticed a moment ago that wh...

How to disable modification of hds_control.vbs?
Excuse me for the issue. Under Windows 7, Hard Disk Sentinel needs to use the Windows scheduler to schedule itself to run when you log in to the system because other ways (which worked in previous versions of Windows, for example using the registry) do not work. So on startup (if the "load with...

Is there a way to send report on a monthly basis?
The Message Settings Configuration page enables one to configure the report contents and the Alerts Configuration page enables one to send the report automatically on a daily basis. Additionally the Operations Configuration page seems to enable one to perform a variety of scheduled operations... But...
