Recommendation: 16 Port Sata Card?
I'm close to running out of SATA ports on my Mobo + and an IBM M1015 cross flashed using the "IT Firmware" as LSI 9211-8i. Any suggestions for a cost effective 16 port card that just presents as a bunch of SATA ports (no need for RAID)? Needs to run under Windows 8.1
Thanks

Re: Question on ReFS and HDS
I'll let you know how it goes. I've almost finished converting all my drive in one pool from NTFS to ReFS. As this pool consists of 30+TB with 700K items, I am really looking forward to no more NTFS errors as at this size stuff was taking ages for scan/repair with CHKDSK (on two occasions it trashed...

Question on ReFS and HDS
Just double checking that there are no issues with HDS and ReFS formated drives (I assume not). I'm converting my data NTFS drives across to ReFS and it all seems fine so far.

In you are interested the original link to the 2720 issue was - http://forum.division-m.com/index.php?topic=1007.msg3727#msg3727 and the user BigXor suggesting (among other things) A word about Highpoint - they write proprietary info to the drive controller and it is a bitch to remove and make your ...

Re: 100% yet "Failure Predicted-Seek Time Perf"
Thanks - it is all good. I was moving the Hitachi 4TB drive from one PC to another as I had some cheap Seagate 3tb arrive and wanted to consolidate all the Hitachi into the server. FYI - When I first got the Highpoint, I moved 6 existing drives over from the MB Sata ports to the 2720 and on rebootin...

Re: 100% yet "Failure Predicted-Seek Time Perf"
FYI - Thanks for the reminder on updating the drivers from stock WHS install, I've now got on my WHS box:
- SIL 1.5.20.3 (21/04/2009)
- Intel 11.6.0.1030 (1/09/2012)
- ASMedia 106x 1.3.4.0 (5/01/2012)
EDIT - FYI send a report from this box in case I've stuffed something up!

Re: 100% yet "Failure Predicted-Seek Time Perf"
Thanks again for the great support (and piece of mind). I'm sure the drive is fine & It is a bit hard to work out now what drive was on what controller as it has been removed (FYI I use Drive Bender) so the error appeared at some point in the removal / move process. It came from a WHS that just ...

Re: 100% yet "Failure Predicted-Seek Time Perf"
Thanks - It passed the quick test and I'll send the report once the Extended Self Test runs (will be 10 hours). Here is the pic of the Alert (and as you point out the Overview says it is perfect). I'm thinking this alert just appeared the once when I physically moved it from one system to another (w...

100% yet "Failure Predicted-Seek Time Perf"
Hi - I've sent a report with more detail but I've just moved a drive from one PC to another and while it is reporting as 100% heath I have an Alert "Failure Predicted !!! Attribute : Seek Time Performance". When looking at the SMART data it seems to be triggered by a change from 37 to 35 i...

Drive Bender is incorporating Hard Disk Sentinel!
http://forum.division-m.com/index.php?topic=1523.0 Great work HDS! Drive Bender is a drive pooling utility for all versions of Windows that makes all your drives appear as one logical drive. Last year they started to work on SMART reporting but it was waaaay behind that HDS could do and I'm sure man...

Re: Volume Names?
You are at the correct area. There should be displayed the logical drive letters (with volume names) and NTFS mount points for the drives I don't think the info is there unless there is a drive letter assigned (well I can not see it in the pic). Will check it and if possible, it will be available i...

Sorry - I'm checking I understand correctly - Here is a pic of what I see on the top of an Information tag. I can see no information on the Drive Vol (or am I looking at the wrong area)?
Thanks

Re: Volume Names?
The Logical Drive(s) Section on the Information Tab only appears for drives with an assiged drive Letter so again there is no way of seeing the VOLNAME if the HDD does not have an assigned drive letter. I know I could (and have on some of my hdds) used the Comment field but is it possible to add to ...

Re: Volume Names?
Sorry to bump. But HDS will only display the VOLNAME if the HDD has a Drive Letter assigned to it. When no drive letter is assigned then HDS does not show the VOLNAME in the drive selector window.

Re: HDS (Remote) not showing details from WHS11
Very Happy - Issue # 2 is also fixed (Hard Disk Sentinel (Remote) is now working again as well)! The following Pic is from a PC that is using the Windows Home Server Dashboard (a form of Remote Desktop) to log into the WHS11 box. As you can see not only does the dashboard load but so does a HDS (rem...
