Re: How to monitor for offline drive (lost power)?

Looking forward to the next maintenance cycle and an update where the "standard" edition can detect missing drives and assist in dealing with failing RAID groups.

Re: run HD Sentinel as a service

Also, as to not getting an e-mail alert when running as a service, as you stated: " The e-mail alert should be sent on the 2nd detection cycle. So if the detection frequency (Configuration -> Advanced options) is set to the default, the e-mail alert may be sent after 5 minutes after startup. Ye...

Re: run HD Sentinel as a service

I apologize, the built-in Help provided in the product is easier to search than the HDsentinel.com website's version of the Help; therefore now I found the information on running HD Sentinel as a service quite easily now. As they say, RTFM! It seems as if while running the service (on Windows...

Re: How to monitor for offline drive (lost power)?

Thank you for the reply. I understand your need to up-sell additional "features" in the professional or enterprise editions, but it would be nice to have this available in the "standard" edition as well. Not being a business customer, I only have a single computer I wish to monit...

What temperature thresholds for alerts?

What temperature thresholds should I set for HD Sentinel alerts? The drive manufacturer only specifices an operating range. Rule of thumb 80% YELLOW warning, 95% RED danger? The S.M.A.R.T. value for highest temperature ever recorded also could be a clue (the drives were operating long time before I ...

How to monitor for offline drive (lost power)?

Question: Can HD Sentinel alert when a HDD goes "offline" and is gone? I have HD Sentinel Standard running on Windows Home Server 2011 (same as Windows Server 2008 R2). It detects all HDD correctly through the on-board Intel SATA RAID controller. I have both a RAID1 set of 2 drives (system...

Re: Using with Windows Home Server

It has been some time since this question was asked, so I'll bring it up again. Has there been any progress on development of a Windows Home Server (WHS) Add-In? Also, to be more specific, WHS 2011 edition. The WHS v1 was based on Windows Server 2003, the WHS 2011 version is based on Windows Server ...
