Zoho Mail Won't Display Daily Status Emails
This is not a problem with HDS, but starting Tuesday, January 23rd, my email provider Zoho.com stopped displaying the body of the daily status (HTML) email (it just shows up as blank). This happens with their Windows desktop client, their browser interface, and their Android client. All my other non...

How Do I Redisplay a "Backgrounded" Self Test?
If I am running the Extended Self-test and click on the Background button, is there a way to restore the window so that I can see its progress (how much time is remaining)? I tried choosing the Extended Self-test again, and it looks like it simply started a new test (and I'm not even sure if it also...

How to Get HDS to Reevaluate Health After Successful Repair
Yesterday I received a health warning on one of my drives. The log showed that there were 8 bad sectors. I ran a Quick Fix surface test and it found the bad block (only one bad block was found). During the repair it maxxed out at 48 Reallocated Sectors , and 149 Reported Uncorrectable Sectors . All ...

"Detect file information for sectors with errors" ?
In the Surface Test | Configuration | Advanced Options , there is an option at the bottom of the window that says " Detect file information for sectors with errors " with a related " Maximum try count " setting. HD Sentinel Surface Test Advanced Options.png Just by the descriptio...

Alternative to "Slow" Formatting a Large HDD
I used to always "slow format" (as opposed to doing a "quick format" on) my HDDs before using them. This started back in the day when even new drives had bad sectors that hadn't yet been marked as unusable (and slow formatting would often block these sectors from being used). Now...

Daily Status Email - Subject Header Question
I have HD Sentinel set up to send me a daily status email. So far all my connected drives (between 3 and 5) are running at 100%, and the subject header of the daily status email always says "...[100%]". But I'm not sure if the percentage in the subject header is an average of all the drive...

HGST 4TB 3.5" Drives Spin Up Time Incorrect
I have two HGST 4TB 3.5"drives that HD Sentinel reports having a Spin Up time (#3) values over 20,000,000 (data field)! Both drives are working fine. The UltraStar I've been using for more than 2 years without problems (and definitely no noticeable lag time to access the drive), the HGST NAS dr...

Re: JMS562 + StarTech SDOCK2U33RE
A heads-up on using the eSATA port with a StarTech dock: I have a StarTech SATDOCK4U3E (4 bays, eSATA and USB 3.0 ports). It works fine (even reports SMART values back to HD Sentinel). However , when I connected it to a newer laptop and used the eSATA port, I noticed that certain parameters started ...

Re: Percentage of Lifetime Used Warning
To all users: I would suggest you enable the email notification option (set up both Configuration | Alerts and Configuration | E-mail Configuration ). I have this configured to send me a daily status report (which honestly is a bit of an annoyance, since it keeps telling me things are at 100%). How...

Re: System crashing, is my SSD failing?
Mitch7, 1) You may want to upgrade to the latest version of HD Sentinel (HDS). If you search the forum for Hynix , you'll find a thread (in Hungarian - use Google translate to read it) that states that older versions of HDS don't produce the correct values for some Hynix SSDs. Not sure if it will so...

Re: Problems with "Check for new version now"
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (w/SP1)
HDS: v5.01 Pro (non-portable version)
NOTE: I tried blocking the HDS update check with both software and hardware firewall (independently) - both methods resulted with HDS incorrectly telling me that my version 5.01 PRO was up-to-date.

Problems with "Check for new version now"
If I have my firewall blocking Hard Disk Sentinel, clicking the Configuration | Update | Check for new version now results in a message saying that my current version is up-to-date (which it isn't). Disabling the firewall block results in HDS telling me there is a new version and then immediately st...

Re: Start/Stop, Power Off Retract & Load/Unload High Values
It seems the eSATA connection is causing the problem. I'm not sure if it's because of the eSATA card that I'm using, or the eSATA port on the dock. But switching to the dock's USB3 port, the load/unload increment went back to normal. Unfortunately, the HDD temps increased under the USB3 connector, a...

Different HDD Temps based on connector (eSATA vs USB)?
In a previous post I discovered some excessive load/unload numbers for drives mounted in an external multi-bay dock. In trying to troubleshoot the problem, I switched connectors from eSATA to USB3 (the dock supports both). After switching to USB3, I noticed that the drives were reporting higher temp...

Start/Stop, Power Off Retract & Load/Unload High Values
In the past couple of months, I've had three values increase dramatically: 4 Start/Stop Count 192 Power off Retract Cycle Count 193 Load/Unload Cycle Count Not all the drives change all three values equally. For example, a 4TB HGST UltraStar has values of 26946, 26971 & 26971 respectively (this ...

The problem with saving the report was simply my impatience - it was just taking a long time to compile the information (but eventually it did save)!
Thanks!

Authentic Disk Report?
1) Could you please explain this report option (nothing in the help file discusses it)?
2) Any idea why I can't save such a report (I click on the save button, the title field is highlighted but nothing happens)? "Non-authentic" (normal) reports are saved without problems.
Thanks.

Re: Small Bug with Current Status Report
> The idle time should always reset when there is user input, when the mouse moved or a key pressed. Do you see that time resets in the other tool? Ahh, that explains the difference! System Explorer's Idle Time is a cumulative value (and is reset to 0 after each reboot). Personally, I find System E...
