Re: Health indicator goes down then up

Thank you for the thorough explanation about the meaning of the Health indicator. Temperature spikes on my laptop are a very regular phenomenon. In fact I became so used to them that I don't pay much attention anymore. What was different this time was the drop in Health from 61% to 50% which was qui...

Re: Health declining: When to replace disk?

Thank you very much for your reply which is quite clear and very informative as always. I'll be watching the condition of this disk drive very closely from now on.

Health declining: When to replace disk?

The health of my 256GB NVMe SSD disk has been declining over time and is now at 63%. I ran a short self-test, but it doesn't appear to complete. At least it goes way over the estimated two minutes to complete and I stop it after 12 minutes of testing with no final result. I have no real problem as r...

Hard Disk Sentinel Tray in startup applications

Could we have an option to have Hard Disk Sentinel Tray included in the startup applications? This could be offered during installation as well as in the configuration settings.

Re: I cannot send email status reports using Gmail

Thank you. I followed the steps and did it.
If I understand correctly I have to keep the two step authentication activated in order for the App password to be effective.

I cannot send email status reports using Gmail

I cannot have email notifications to be sent by HDS using Gmail. I don't know if this is a temporary problem with Gmail or is a new permanent development. According to my Gmail account settings two other apps have been granted access to my data, but HDS is not one of them.

Re: Health of SSD drive dropping

I omitted to ask if the SSD drive may be affected by reads (as opposed to writes). I take an incremental backup daily, a differential backup weekly and an image backup once a month. I don't know if these accesses to the SSD drive reduce its life, at least as much as writes to it apparently do.

Re: Health of SSD drive dropping

Thank you for the information. I'll do a few tweaks so as to reduce the writes to disk and thus possibly prolong the life of the drive.

Health of SSD drive dropping

My drive C on a laptop shows declining health. It's now at 83% and the daily status report states: "The status of the solid state disk is PERFECT. Problematic or weak sectors were not found. The health is determined by SSD specific S.M.A.R.T. attribute(s): Available Spare (Percent), Percentage ...

Show temperature overheat in email subject

I often receive an email notification from Hard Disk Sentinel when there is a temperature overheat. It would be useful to add to the email subject line the disk number and overheat current temperature so that I wouldn't have to open the email and scroll through to where the overheat temperature is r...

Re: Extended test fails because hardware/software reset prob

Thank you for pointing out the feature to not allow disks to spin down! I'm very happy to learn that HD Sentinel already has this. I forgot to mention that the problem arose a few weeks ago and what I remember is that it was at about the time when there was an update to the graphics card driver of m...

Re: Extended test fails because hardware/software reset prob

Many thanks for your reply. I'm running some software (Prevent Disk Sleep) which is supposed to keep the disk(s) active, but it doesn't seem to work. It activates every 500 seconds. Maybe I should shorten this period. Unfortunately the disk in question doesn't have Advanced Power Management as the m...

Extended test fails because hardware/software reset problem

I'm trying to run an extended test on a 2TB external disk connected to my laptop via a 7 port USB hub. The test doesn't complete because it's "interrupted by host with hardware/software reset ". I unchecked the power saving setting on the USB hub, but the error still occurs. The external d...

Re: Should this picture worry me?

Thank you for the explanation. As I wrote, I use this disk for my backups and if it's a bit slow it doesn't matter to me as long as it's sufficiently healthy.

Should this picture worry me?

I did a surface test on one of my external hard disks and the result is attached.
There is a large dark green colored area. Should I worry about this disk? I use it for backup.

Recommended testing for my internal drive?
