Re: System Management Information always included in e-mails
Thank you for response and my apologies for my late response. I had to meet some deadlines first. It is good to know that 2 test e-mails can be sent. It makes sense because of what you describe. It may be a good idea to add this to the help text not only to avoid confusion, but also that one knows t...

Re: System Management Information always included in e-mails
Thank you for your elaborate response and quick fix. I can confirm that System Management Information is not included in the e-mails any more if it is deselected in Configuration > Message Settings > Detailed report components in v6.10.3 beta. I have however found a new bug. If under Configuration >...

System Management Information always included in e-mails
Using HDS Professional v6.10 I noticed that e-mails always include System Management Information even when this option is disabled under Configuration > Message Settings > Detailed report components. All other items do obey the settings there, it is just System Management Information that does not.

Panic backup requests and a question
I have been using Hard Disk Sentinel on all my computers much to my satisfaction for more than 10 years now and it has helped me many times to discover possible hard disk failures (which in fact very often were only pending sectors that could be turned into good ones again using the reinitialization...

Re: Surface test prevents display from turning off
Hello Janos, Thank you for your fast reply. I had indeed just discovered in the help text that "the software prevents the screensaver from starting, prevents the computer entering any standby or lower power management mode and using a higher priority." I was just about to add that and requ...

Surface test prevents display from turning off
I recently noticed that when performing a surface scan on one or more disk drives, the time set under Power options for when the display should be turned off (or dimmed) does not work anymore. The display is never turned off, which is a problem if (as in many cases) the scan lasts a long time (sever...

Re: Same hard drive with different size/cylinders/sectors
I received a reply from WD support. They recommended me to RMA the drive. The values for the drive should be Physical Bytes per sector - 4096, Host Bytes per Sector - 512, User Sectors per Drive - 7,814,037,168. Obviously the smaller drive is faulty. They said the cause could be the drive, the setup...

Re: Same hard drive with different size/cylinders/sectors
Thanks for your response. I only just now noticed that you had responded. I guess I missed the notification e-mail. It is quite telling that you do not have an explanation. Even though I really should not have invested the time for such a small issue, I just asked WD if they have an explanation. I a...

Re: JMS562 + StarTech SDOCK2U33RE
Thank you for your reply. I have just sent you the developer's report directly from HDS Pro. I hope it is something you can work with.

Re: Same hard drive with different size/cylinders/sectors
Thank you for your responses and my apologies for my delayed reply. I had to solve more urgent technical matters first before I could collect the information you requested. I have send you a developer's report a few minutes ago, but for completeness I am also attaching screen shots here of both hard...

Re: JMS562 + StarTech SDOCK2U33RE
I recently purchased the same model duplicator dock. I was surprised (and a bit frustrated TBH, because this was the first time I had this issue with any of my many docks, enclosures and adapters) there were no SMART data available using HDS 5.20 PRO with either USB 3.0 or eSATA with Port Multiplier...

Same hard drive with different size/cylinders/sectors
I recently bought a duplicator dock and today I tried to duplicate a WD Blue 4 TB hard drive to another WD Blue 4 TB hard drive. I have bought them at the same time as retail hard drives in February 2017. However, I was surprised that the duplicator dock refused to duplicate the hard drive because a...

Re: How do you turn off Acoustic Management?
Thanks for your fast reply! That clears things up. Maybe it is an idea to include the information in this thread in the help texts too. Of course I looked there first, but some of the information in this thread (including your answer to my question) is not included there. Thanks again, also for a GR...

Re: How do you turn off Acoustic Management?
My apologies for resurrecting this thread, but it seemed the right place to add my question. In the screen shot you posted there is a line "Automatically adjust setting on restart". What does this option mean? I have Googled it but could not find anything. In my experience a new acoustic s...
