Re: HDS reappears after ejecting USB device
Thanks! But I do not really see USB device in the report. Not really sure if related to the USB device/drive (maybe), Windows, language or anything else.... Generally should cause no problems - but can be annoying, so will investigate later on multiple systems, with different external drives and che...

Re: HDS reappears after ejecting USB device
Not really bug and I wonder what may happen.... Just tried to reproduce on different systems (XP-Win7-Win10-Win11) did not see similar: if the window closed, then (of course) it does not re-appear when the USB drive disconnected (or re-connected). Can you please use Report menu -> Send test report t...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4b: EAccessViolation at $0000000000000003
Sorry for the troubles. Sounds really interesting. I suggest to start the Linux version with the following command line parameters: ./hdsentinel -enabletest -txt -r report.txt This will log all detection steps / raw results between the software and the drives to testmode.txt and creates a report at ...

Re: hdsentinel prevents spin down

Because as it would affect the daily statistics (daily highest / lowest / average temperatures etc.) it would cause confusion. This is why it is possible by this trick (after accepting the abo...

Re: NAS Monitoring - HDSentinel not reconnecting to NAS after reboot
Generally Hard Disk Sentinel attempts to connect the NAS - but probably the connection fails because the NAS is not yet accessible. This can be related to user rights: sometimes after the reboot, the user rights not automatically granted to access the network resource. When you use the "Test&qu...

Re: Runtime error 203
Thanks for checking and pointing on this. Probably a compiler issue, as HDSentinel Linux code does not attempt to directly use the file, but probably a library attempts to open that during the init stage. As I found, some other Linux apps may experience similar, eg. https://doublecmd.h1n.ru/viewtopi...

Re: Auto update disk information
Please check Configuration -> Advanced Options page: there is a Detection Frequency setting.
By default, the values detected/updated once per every 5 minutes, but you can set more/less frequent too.

Re: hdsentinel prevents spin down
Please check this topic: https://www.hdsentinel.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13507 > Would it be possible to let the user completely disable statistics reset? Statistics reset at midnight if the status detected. You can disable that (please see the topic about the registry trick to disable) so then the...

Re: Display Both Drive Letters and Mount Points for Drives
Thanks for the tip. Generally on the Information page, Hard Disk Sentinel automatically shows the mount points for the corresponding drive, exactly to allow easier identification. Will check the possibilities how to display it in the drive selector area too, in addition to logical drive letters as y...

Re: Runtime error 203
Sorry for the troubles. Sounds really interesting. Probably related to one or more disk(s) / device(s). If possible, I recommend to try to disconnect some drive(s), external disks or so (if possible) just to verify which one(s) may be related. Also I suggest to start the Linux version with the follo...

Re: Generate weak sectors to fully decrypt partial encrypted file
The bottom right corner of the disk surface images show relatively low Health % already on the drive (even after the repair) ... At this level, even if we stabilize / repair problems, we can expect more and more issues later, even during simple file operatons. So personally I'd recommend to diagnose...

Re: Generate weak sectors to fully decrypt partial encrypted file
> I´d like to ask you where to artificially generate weak sectors under windows preferably. Of course no, you can't say that a particular sector should go weak/pending. You can try to create weak sectors if preferred relatively easily: just try to disconnect the drive (eg. USB drive) during any writ...

Re: Saving surface scan WRITE results after WRITE+READ test
Hi, Yes, exactly as you see, when the Write pass completed, the Read test starts immediately which reads back the written data and verifies it by comparing with the previously written information. If you prefer to check and save records (for example the transfer speed values related to the Write pas...

Please see my previous comment. Stripe is not a Merchant of Record (MoR). They "only" collect money - but they do not manage licenses, discounts, upgrades, affiliates/resellers, invoices, tax/VAT questions and so. With Stripe, everything need to be managed here. Plus the same risk (they ma...

Re: Very low health but no bad/damaged sector was found after reinitializing disk surface
Thanks, I see. Sounds interesting, as generally the Reinitialise Disk Surface test of Hard Disk Sentinel has highest possible success rate to stabilize the situation. Not sure, but there is good chance that it did the job "just" the operating environment (cables, connections, power source ...

Re: High disk writes
Some time ago (just to verify) I made a test: installed a fresh Hard Disk Sentinel with 7 drives (1 NVMe SSD + 3 SATA SSDs + 3 HDDs) and left it running with default settings for many days. After 72 hours, the total amount of written data was 32 MBytes only. Not sure how much was the "couple of...

Re: Doubts hdd please help
Without knowing the details (the drive age, status, Health) and without knowing how big was the "hit" hard to say anything for sure. If the drive just moved a bit, then probably things are safe. If you have doubts, then it is better to perform some tests with Hard Disk Sentinel, exactly to...

Re: HDSentinel Reports 99% Health Wile All SMART test parameters are 100%
Sorry, I wonder why you posted in the "bug reports" as there is absolutely no bug here, but exactly the opposite: things work exactly as should, as expected: the purpose is exactly to detect/reveal the real status / Health. I moved the topic to the proper area. Please note that the Value =...
