Re: New feature: re-initialize in place???
Thank you for your complete and speedy reply to my questions regarding disk bit magnetism "fading" over time and also my question about a way to re-initialize a disk without having to off-load all the data first. You said that disk bit magnetism does not fade over time and I also understa...

New feature: re-initialize in place???
I have learned a great deal about drives reading these posts and in using HD Sentinal. With a couple of dozen drives used (hard) for video editing and many are for simple storage (to preserve the data for several years), I am interested in using HD Sentinal to refresh or restore drives, at least to ...

Re: drive passed the surface test 100% but shows no status info?
Very helpful reply, and speedy, too. Yes, I have the chipset controller on the Asus P6T Deluxe mb and also an Adaptec 1430 controller, and, you are quite right, I believe, in suggesting those drivers.
It has been a while since I refreshed them.
Thanks again.
Mike

drive passed the surface test 100% but shows no status info?
I have a problematic drive, WD2003FYYS, an enterprise 2TB drive; your scan showed lots of bad blocks. This drive also did not show any status info in HD Sentinal, only question marks where the info should be. I ran your long Drive Surface Test (it took a couple of days) and it then showed 100% good ...

Hard Disk Summary: 512 bytes or 4096 bytes/sector???
After using Extended Self Test and now seeing that my 3TB drive, among many others, has been repaired and cleaned, and now gladly reporting 100% Health after fixing the sector degradation issues , I reformatted the drive. Then I reformatted it, selecting 4096 bytes/sector , using standard Windows Ex...

Does an HD Sentinal test reset SMART parameter values?
Thanks for a great program. I have over a dozen large drives used for video editing, which as you know, is very demanding on the drives. So I have used Acronis Drive Monitor until recently and now use HD Sentinal Pro, as it has a full set of diagnostics and tests. One 3TB Seagate drive flagged SMART...
