Problems with "ASRock J5040-ITX"

Hi there!

I'm changed previously the mainboard (from msi b75ia-e33) + OS (from Ubuntu to Debian) and HDSentinel doesnt work anymore with my external HDD's
(HDSentinel works with the same HDD's with the old mainboard+Ubuntu, it's: https://en.sharkoon.com/product//11353)

One are connected to the internal Intel-Controller + two connected to the ASM1061-Controller.
The internal SSD connected to the Intel-Controller is detected

Hi!

The issue may be not related to the hard disk drives, HDSentinel or the motherboard at all, but may be more likely related to the multi-drive USB adapter/enclosure you use.
Or did you see no problems on the older system (with same multi-drive USB enclosure)?

An updated Linux version is available, so I recommend to try that:

Please check that, as it has improved support for many multi-drive USB adapters/enclosures.

If things are the same, I recommend to start with -enabletest command line parameter too:

./hdsentinel -enabletest -txt -r report.txt

This will create a testmode.txt file too with the "raw" communication between the disks and the software. It can give some information/details about what happens in the background and may give ideas about what can be done to improve further for your particular device.
Please send the created testmode.txt and report.txt files together.

Hi,
I know this is old, but maybe this can be still helpful for somebody... so please find below the details.
I just had a similar problem with an external Seagate OneTouch 2.5" 5TB HDD... nor hdsentinel neither smartctl were able to correctly display the HDD details even though under Windows all the information was available.

Apparently the ASM 150x chip (and some others) doesn't like the Linux UAS driver... so the solution is to black list it - details in the links below:

After disabling UAS hdsentinel 19c works as expected.

as I'd be more than happy to check / analyse and check what can be done (for example to display a notification if it may be applicable).
