TRIM feature
Hello, In order to troubleshoot an issue I'm having with a controller I have temporarily moved my SSD to a secondary controller (Marvell) from the main Intel controller. HD Sentinel says that TRIM is supported but not enabled. I have followed some instructions on the Internet and looks like my TRIM ...

Re: Move registration from old to new computer
Hi,
I did not see this post before I formatted my PC!
I did save the DISKDATA files. I have reinstalled Hard Disk Sentinel and replaced the DISKDATA files, but I can't see the history of my HDDs. Have I lost my history or is there a way to restore it from the files I've saved?
Thanks

Re: Seagate Raw_Read_Error_Rate
Thanks again. It seems that to understand properly SMART attributes you definitely need to have some knowledge about the drive you are going to analise. Thanksfully we manage just two types of drives at the moment so it should be easy to spot weird behaviors. I've just realise that comparing the dri...

Re: Seagate Raw_Read_Error_Rate
Hi HdSentinel Thanks for your help, it's great to have such an experienced help. I've read your page about SMART. There is still something that is unclear for me. First, where the "threshold" value comes from? Is it stored on the HD by the manufacturer? Secondly, is the DATA value calculat...

Seagate Raw_Read_Error_Rate
Hello everybody We have replaced some Hitachi drives from a machine with Seagate ones. Apparently the Hitachi's have a different way to count the Raw_Read_Error_Rate parameter. While on Hitachi's the raw value is zero or maybe 1 (value=100), on Seagate's the raw value is huge all the time and the &q...

Re: Bad sectors count
Thank HDSentinel for your detailed reply. In your experience, would you consider a drive with a few bad sectors count (<10) not entirely reliable? We ship drives around and if a drive fails we have to ship another one using very expensive shippers to have it to our customer on time. I have been test...

Bad sectors count
Hello everybody I'm using a registered version of HD Sentinel to inspect some of our HDs trying to find out whether they're still reliable or not. I am trying to understand how "bad" is a drive with a single - or just a few - bad sectors on it. In my limited knowledge of the matter I know ...
